तपःस्वाध्यायेश्वरप्रणिधानानि क्रियायोगः ॥
Transliteration
tapaḥ-svādhyāyeśvara-praṇidhānāni kriyā-yogaḥ
Translation
“Kriya-yoga is tapas, self-study, and devotion to Ishvara.”

Context
Opens the sadhana pada. Kriya-yoga here is a triad, not the later trademarked breathing systems that borrowed the name. Ishvara-pranidhana is theologically thick; Yoga's Ishvara is not automatically the Krishna of the Gita.
